merzproject’s Show Low Library Project celebrates completion

Show Low Librarymerzproject, a studio of Shepley Bulfinch the award winning architecture and interiors firm, is excited to announce the recent completion of its Show Low Library project. The project consists of 20,000 square feet of new construction and includes a Library, City Council Chambers and a television studio.

merzproject is as well the architect of the Show Low City Hall; phase two of the downtown Show Low revival. The construction for the City Hall will start in September 2010, with an anticipated completion date in late 2010.

UA SELECTS GLHN FOR ENR2 PROJECT

The University of Arizona has selected GLHN Architects and Engineers, Inc. of Tucson to design a $42 million, 128,000 square foot addition to the University’s Environmental and Natural Resources Building.  As Architect and Engineer of Record for the project, GLHN will work in association with Richard+Bauer of Phoenix.

The new facility will house the Institute of the Environment (IE), the School of Geography Development (SGD), the School of Natural Resources & Environment (SNRE), including the Office of Arid Lands Studies (OALS), and the Department of Atmospheric Sciences/Institute for Atmospheric Physics (ATMO) and will be designed to facilitate scientific collaboration and interdisciplinary research.  LEED Platinum certification will be sought for the project.

Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Facility Project Honored as Public Works Project of the Year

The City of Nogales, Arizona’s International Wastewater Treatment Facility project was recently named one of the Public Works Projects of the Year by the American Public Works Association (APWA).   The project’s managing agency, the City of Nogales, along with primary contractor PCL Construction Inc., and primary consultant, Stantec Consulting Services Inc., will be presented with the award during APWA’s 2010 International Congress & Exposition in Boston, Massachusetts from August 15-18, 2010. 

The APWA Public Works Projects of the Year awards are presented annually to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects, recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, contractor, consultant and their cooperative achievements. This year, APWA selected 18 projects in five categories: Disaster or Emergency Construction, Environment, Historical Restoration, Structures, and Transportation.

Weitz Awarded Projects at CityScape

Bill Hornaday, West Region President of the Weitz Company, is pleased to announce two new projects awarded to Weitz at CityScape. 

The Weitz Company has been awarded the construction of the CVS Pharmacy located on the New Patriot’s Square block of CityScape.  The project includes the build-out of approximately 11,000 square feet of retail space.  Weitz is currently serving as the general contractor over CityScape’s entire retail project located at Washington and Central in Downtown Phoenix due for completion later this year.  

In addition, Weitz was recently selected by Polsinelli-Shughart Law Firm to construct its new offices in the CityScape tower.  The project will consist of the build-out of three floors totaling approximately 67,500 square feet.  Construction began in May with an October completion.
